Possibilities of water recreation in the city of Prague (past and present)
From 2018 to 2020, a survey was carried out of potential opportunities for the expansion of places for swimming and water recreation in the capital city of Prague. From about 150 places, 57 were selected where the water quality was monitored and their condition and potential were evaluated. To assess the water quality of these sites, in cooperation with the NIPH and as an alternative to Decree 238/2011 Coll., “Indicative assessment of the current state of natural bathing areas” was designed and used for evaluation (satisfactory and satisfactory with reservation – water suitable for bathing; unsatisfactory – water unsuitable for bathing).
A set of maps “Possibilities of water recreation in the capital city of Prague (past and present)” – type of output Nmap – specialized map with professional content. A set of maps, optimized for large format printing, was created for the possibility of a comprehensive presentation of the project results (banners, poster presentations, notice boards, etc.). On two types of maps (information and results), this project output shows 156 current and defunct bathing areas, among them profiles monitored by us during 2018-2020, official places for bathing, river bathing areas, natural reservoirs, bathing areas, outdoor pools and bathing areas, indoor swimming pools; furthermore, population density (population/km2) according to individual city districts of Prague, with a topographic map. In addition to the above layers, the result maps contain layers with information on the classification of the monitored profiles into three categories (profiles suitable for all-day water recreation, profiles suitable for undemanding visitors, and profiles unsuitable for water recreation) and determining the potential of profiles for their further use (supplementing with basic equipment (P1) or have the potential to be transformed into a public bathing area (P2)). The set consists of 6 maps, namely 2 types of maps (information and results) for 3 sub-areas of Prague.
