RAINMAN – Integrated Heavy Rain Risk Management
How can we effectively mitigate the effects of flash floods in Europe?
We deal with the issue of modelling water management structures using physical and mathematical models in order to verify the design proposal to the optimal form, not only in terms of hydraulics, but also economically. Within mathematical modelling, we also focus on the study of runoff conditions on watercourses and on the issue of surface water in general. We also specialize in the methodical solution of water management works and their potential in terms of water use in the landscape. As part of our activities, we are involved in a number of international projects where, for example, we deal with the issue of flash floods and the design of adaptation measures for flood and drought management. Last but not least, we carry out expert and assessment activities focused on, for example, the issue of minimum residual flows in terms of energy use of watercourses.
